All public holidays in the Netherlands in 2027
The Dutch government lists 11 official public holidays for 2027. Seven fall on a weekday. Both Christmas days fall on a weekend.
Do employees get these days off?
No law in the Netherlands says that public holidays are days off. The collective labour agreement (CAO) or the employment contract decides who is off and whether the day is paid.
Good Friday and Liberation Day are often working days. Many CAOs give Liberation Day as a paid day off only once every 5 years, in 2025 and 2030, so in 2027 it is a normal working day for many employees.
Long weekends in the Netherlands in 2027
King's Day falls on a Tuesday and Ascension Day on a Thursday, so one day of leave turns each of them into 4 days off.
If your CAO gives you Good Friday off, Easter becomes 4 days, from Friday 26 to Monday 29 March. With Liberation Day off as well, one day of leave on Friday 7 May gives you 5 days, from Wednesday 5 to Sunday 9 May.
